November 2006 saw the launch of the Hyndburn Learning Exchange, where it is the aim of the project to support organisations to extend their training to other organisations to enable the Voluntary and Community Sector to share skills and knowledge.
The majority of courses are free to residents of Hyndburn and held in community venues across Hyndburn. The project aims to reduce barriers in the hope of increasing the levels of participants in local learning and so we can help with fees, childcare and transport costs.

Courses on offer for individuals include Computers for Beginners, Drop-in Computer sessions which cover e-mail, downloading, surfing the web, digital photography, etc. Basic Literacy, ESOL, Positive Parenting, Mountain Bike Training, Football Coach Qualification, Cultural Awareness, Money Management, Numeracy Classes, Health and Safety, First Aid Training, Advocacy Empowerment, plus many many more.

Across the globe, more than 43 million children miss out on school because they live in countries affected by conflict. Yet education is the very thing that could help keep them safe, give them hope, and transform their lives. You, me, we, have this opportunity!
Ensure that the learning exchange is used and help change the lives of someone in your neighbourhood. Please spread the word about the Learning Exchange. We want as many people as possible to learn and change.
